The Journey began once we were accepted with VSO/Cuso International.
The
month of June was very busy for us. On my birthday, we attended an 'Assessment
Day' in Ottawa with Cuso international. We returned home for one day
and soon we were back on the road again to Ottawa for a week of training.
Though it was an intense learning exercise in cultural awareness and team
building, it was a wonderful experience to meet the Cuso team and other
volunteers who were preparing to travel to different parts of the world.

In two
month’s time, in early September 2013 and in courtesy of VSO/Cuso International,
my husband, Kevin and I plan to live and work, for 19+ months in the
northeastern part of rural Cambodia. During our time in Cambodia, we will also be
working with a team of South to South, Canadian
and UK volunteers throughout Cambodia.
I ’ve
been assigned to work alongside teachers and directors to share skills, new
initiatives, improve and increase access
to education by the year 2015 for a better tomorrow ... As for Kevin,
he plans to search for volunteer work once we begin to settle.
We are really excited about the prospect of experiencing a new culture, language, food, travel, the people and much more …

More later ... Alice / Kevin :)
